Our day trips in Myanmar take place in Yangon, the country's economic hub and most populous city. Yangon is home to over 5 million of Myanmar's population of 55 million.
Years of political and economic isolation have led to the impoverishment of large sections of the population. The country has now entered a period of political, economic and social upheaval, however the positive impacts of these changes have not reached all members of society. Millions continue to live in poverty and marginalised children and young people are among the most vulnerable of the poor. Many of them end up living on the streets and in the slums of Yangon.
Our mission in Yangon is to help some of these underprivileged young people have access to more opportunities by taking them on a day trip with a difference!
Day trip with a difference in Yangon
Your contribution, however big or small, will help make a difference to the lives of young people
living on the streets and in the slums of Yangon.
A donation of $25 will support one child to join a day tour with a difference.
Donations go through our fundraising partner the EXO Foundation. 100% of donations go towards the day trips
we organise as all administrative costs are covered by project partners.
Young people we support in Yangon
Our NGO partner in Myanmar is SONNE Social Organization. They run multiple day care centres for around 350 vulnerable children and adolescents in Yangon. The organisation focuses on education, skills training, medical care and the (re-)integration of marginalized children into society. Our day trips have been put together to complement their education and skills training initiatives.
The children joining our trips live on the streets and in the slums of Yangon, and are mostly aged between 5-10 years old. The day care centres run by SONNE Social Organization provide the children with meals, medical care and assistance to get into formal education.
